DINING ON MAIN STREET
You can find a good breakfast, lunch, dinner, or snack any day of the week on Main Street. All the establishments are in unique old buildings with interesting decor. Some are fancy, most are laid-back. Some favorites are described below.

RESTAURANTS
|
TONY'S ON MAIN
Our chosen spot for the Cafe dinner Saturday night. Lunch, dinner. Great Italian-American cuisine. Cozy and laid-back atmosphere. Excellent pasta or steaks, or try that St. Louis classic, toasted ravioli. Smoking/non-smoking. |
WINERY OF THE LITTLE HILLS
Breakfast, lunch, dinner, Sunday brunch. Excellent French-American cuisine. Local wines available for sale on premises. Tasting bar. Patio is great place to have lunch and watch Main Street go by. Smoking on patio only. |
ST. CHARLES VINTAGE HOUSE
Lunch, dinner. German and American cuisine in winegarten style. Just across the street from the Reunion's designated hotel. A Main Street icon for decades. Good food, especially if you like sauerbraten. Smoking/non-smoking. |
TRAILHEAD BREWING CO.
Lunch, dinner. Good food and excellent traditional and flavored beers, brewed on the premises. Big vats of brewing "product" are part of the decor. Located about a block from the hotel. Smoking/non-smoking. |
LEWIS & CLARK'S
Lunch, dinner. Good, if trendy, food and great atmosphere. Three-story brick building; on nice days, get a table on the upper balcony for a great view of the river and Main Street while you dine. Smoking/non-smoking sections. |
THE MOTHER-IN-LAW HOUSE
Lunch, dinner. Built in 1866. Sort of Victorian New Orleans decor; frou-frou, but not suffocatingly so. Menu is not vast, but everything on it is a winner. Don't miss the coconut cream pie. Non-smoking. |

CAFES AND COFFEE HOUSES
|
PICASSO'S COFFEE HOUSE
My new fave spot for coffee and crossword. Open all day. Sandwiches during lunch hours. The kids who run this place are adorable, and the cups quote T.S. Eliot ("I have measured out my life with coffee spoons"). WiFi hotspot in case you bring your laptop. Non-smoking.
|
ST. LOUIS BREAD COMPANY Breakfast, lunch. Homemade fresh bread and pastries; soups, salads, sandwiches. The highest-octane coffee in town. I love to come here for breakfast and watch Main Street come to life early in the morning. Smoking at sidewalk tables only. |
BELLA GARDEN CAFE
Outdoor cafe. The fare ranges from salads and wraps to Philly cheesesteaks and soups.
Dogs are also welcome here; they'll even give your pet complimentary water. Smoking permitted.
|
THE MAGPIE CAFE Open for lunch only, this little cafe serves homestyle American cuisine including quiche, homemade desserts, and baked potato soup daily. Smoking on patio only. |
|
GRUB PUBS
|
PASTA LUIGI'S
Spot chosen for our Friday-night "meet & greet." Located in the old Water Works Building next door to our hotel. Italian fare (e.g., toasted ravs, pisghetti and stuff). Moderate prices; giant outdoor balcony that overlooks the river. Smoking permitted.

R.T. WEILER'S
Nice place to lunch or dine in a casual atmosphere, have a beer, and watch a game on big-screen TV. Live bands on weekend nights. My friends' band, Leather & Lace, will be playing there on our Reunion weekend. Smoking permitted. |
RUMPLE'S PUB
Great place to grab a burger or a full meal. I love their fried oysters. Casual atmosphere; cozy booths. Live bands on weekend nights. (My next-door neighbors own this place... nice folks.) Smoking permitted. |

BAR & GRILL SPOTS
|
LLOYD & HARRY'S
Beer, burgers, brats... all three CHEAP. Burgers (big ones!) and bratwurst for only a buck each. Happy-hour specials, sports on TV, and a friendly crowd any time of day. What more could you ask for? Smoking permitted. |
BIG A'S
Very casual hangout bar with sandwiches, pizza, steak, pasta, daily specials. Great burgers, and people swear by the waffle fries. Pool tables; big-screen TV. Smoking/non-smoking sections. |
TUNER'S
Casual bar & grill sort of place that's been here forever. Live music on weekends. Good for lunch; good to drop into if you happen to be bar-hopping on Main Street. Smoking. |
