Main Street is the heart of St. Charles' historic district. It runs parallel to the Missouri River and comprises about 10 blocks of restaurants, shops, bars, and other businesses, all housed in buildings dating from the late 1700s until the mid 1800s.
Our Cafe LIVE! event is centered in this district. If you stay in the Country Inn & Suites or The Booneslick Trail B & B, you'll be within walking distance of the river, Frontier Park, the Ameristar Casino, the Katy (biking) Trail, a wonderful microbrewery, some incredible places to dine, a very good winery, a fascinating one-of-a-kind bookstore, antique and bibelot purveyors, bars ranging from hole-in-the-wall neighborhood hangouts to upscale newcomers with live entertainment and trendy drinks, and cool things too numerous to mention. If you can't find it here, you don't need it.
The cops ride nimble, sweet-tempered Morgan horses, which are dwarfed by the massive Percherons that pull carriages over Main Street's cobblestones. If you prefer to get from one end of Main to the other more quickly, hail the free trolley. If you get up early on Saturday, visit the open-air Farmers' Market by the river for fresh veggies, fruits, and flowers from local growers and then amble back to Main Street for coffee and pastry at The Bread Company.
Heck, I don't have to tell you everything. Come on down and see for yourself!
