'Chicago, Chicago, that toddlin' town.' - Fred Fisher 'You walk out of the Amphitheatre after watching the Rolling Stones perform and suddenly the Chicago Stockyards smell clean and good by comparison.' - Tom Fitzpatrick 'A lot of real Chicago lives in the neighborhood taverns. It is the mixed German and Irish and Polish gift to the city, a bit of the old country grafted into a strong new plant in the new.' - Bill Granger 'Chicago sounds rough to the maker of verse. One comfort we have -- Cincinnati sounds worse.' - Oliver Wendell Holmes 'I have struck a city - a real city - and they call it Chicago. . . . I urgently desire never to see it again. It is inhabited by savages.' - Rudyard Kipling 'Anywhere in the world you hear a Chicago bluesman play, it's a Chicago sound born and bred.' - Ralph Metcalfe | SOUVENIRS We are planning a Memory Book of the Authors' Lounge Gathering 2005 to be made available to all Loungers, at a modest cost. It will include several pages of impromptu pics taken at the Mixer and at the Saturday night dinner. There will be space available if you'd like to advertise or promote your businesses or latest projects, such as the cover from your latest book, or cd, your business card, as well as listings of everyone's websites. What goes in there depends on what you'd like to share and what we'd like to see! We have enough time left to plan something really nice. I don't know about the advertising costs yet. A professional photographer will be attending two of our functions, and will have color pictures (and I'm hoping for a video!) available for purchase within a few days after our event. You will be able to place your order directly with him. There will also be printed T-shirts available, as well as some other goodies I'm working on. BUT... ALL of this depends on how many people attend. Here is the list of Attendees, as of June 16th:
